A reflection on Akademy.ai
Over a year and a half ago we set out on a mission to democratize access to artificial intelligence by training the next generation of data scientists. In such a short time, we launched 3 successful bootcamps and created a data science corporate course which is now available to more than 60,000 employees worldwide from a major Spanish Corporation.
Among our achievements, what we are most proud of is the fact that all of our Bootcamp graduates that were seeking a job are now working in a data science-related position after their graduation.Ā Ā
AndĀ today, we have a big announcement to make:
We have been acquired by Strive School (YC Sā20)
I am excited to join Strive as an AI lead, together with an incredible team of founders and operators such as Tobia, Diego, and Alessia.
What this means if you wanted to do a Bootcamp:
We will continue to offer the possibility of becoming an AI Engineer, with the following changes:
The length of the courses has been extended from 10 weeks to 24 weeks.
We no longer require you to know Python in order to start the course.
The courses will be held remotely on a full-time basis (9 am - 6 pm, Mon - Fri)
The course has no upfront cost. You pay only if you get hired.
It is aimed at people with the ability and desire to work in Europe.
We will also offer Full-stack Web Development courses.
The next Batches are starting in:
November 30th, AI Engineering ā> Hurry up š
February 1st, Web Development
February 8th, AI Engineering

Why this newsletter?
On the personal side, starting AkademyAI has been one of the greatest learning journeys of my life. My happiest moment as an educator is seeing a student go from a constant struggle to incremental success. This all comes down to that one moment when everything āclicksā and it finally makes sense. I want to help you click.
When you signed up for AkademyAI, you trusted us to help you become a better version of yourself. We did everything in our power to train as many of you as we could, independent of your circumstances, financial situation, or country of origin.
My goal with BeyondTheAlgorithm is to provide you with relevant AI knowledge to improve your skills, for free.
Each newsletter will be split into the following sections:
š§®SkLearn - Ideal for those getting started
š§²Backprop - Covering the "must-know" concepts
šArxiv - Deep-dives into groundbreaking papers
šDeepMind - For industry-related breakthroughs
š¹"Musk" Meme - The fun side of AI
Like a GPU, this newsletter is published in parallel. You can decide if you want to focus on one specific area (ex: getting started) or several topics at the same time.
It will be published 2 Saturdays a month, allowing you to expand your knowledge in the AI space without clogging your inbox.
I hope to be able to inspire many of you to start and continue your ML / DL journey and that one day, you will find yourselves in the position to help someone else take the same steps.
Have a great week,
Jan Carbonell
